Lingyen Mountain Buddhist Temple is a significant landmark in the Auburn locality. With its prominent traditional Taiwanese gold terracotta roof, intricate reliefs, large open spaces, and fine detailing, the temple dominates the streetscape of Berala. While engaged on a construct only basis, nevertheless, Northpoint was required to work with inconsistent documentation and was immersed in the resolution of design issues from start to finish. Northpoint co-ordinated the program and the design to accommodate the client’s desire to source specialised traditional Buddhist products and other components from Taiwan. The collaborative team spirit that is a hallmark of the Northpoint culture was able to overcome the significant language and cultural barriers to allow the team to co-ordinate effectively, and to deliver a project that is the pride of the Buddhist community of Auburn/Berala.
