Doulos Apartments was awarded to Northpoint Construction Group on a negotiated tender basis. Prior to signing contracts, Northpoint flagged a critical anomaly in the design relating to compliance, and proposed an alternate design solution to the issue prior to being formally awarded the contract. Northpoint then acted on behalf of the client to manage the alternate design, liaise with council to secure the necessary Section 96 approvals, and concurrently secure a separate Section 96 to allow early works to begin so that the site was decontaminated while waiting for approvals. Northpoint’s actions benefitted the client significantly by avoiding major and extremely costly corrective works that would have also delayed completion of the project by up to twelve months. Northpoint delivered the project ahead of time, on budget, and to an exceptional standard of workmanship, and in the process provided substantial added value to the client.
